(Eastern MA) Barnacle Boy & Mermaid Man
from Uli at Nevins Farm:
They are brothers, or they grew up together. We do not know their exact history, but we can tell that these two Piggies are inseparable. When I clipped spurs of Mermaid Man's front paws and cleaned his bum, Barnacle Boy was whistling and loudly 'wheeeeking' for him. And when they were reunited, both seemed very happy again. Then the same started the other way around, when Barnacle Boy got looked over and was taken away from his friend Mermaid Man.
Both are two and a half years old. Barnacle Boy is a Tricolor (mostly black) and Mermaid Man a Cinnamon-Tan Short Hair. Both are extremely friendly and love being held and cuddled. Mermaid Man was even dozing off when I showed him around in the shelter - he must have felt comfortable and wasn't too impressed by the other animals....
The two boys are best for people who had guinea pigs before as they both need some special care, but not that it is uncommon: Mermaid Man gets easily impacted and his bum needs frequent (every other day or so) cleaning. We Guinea Pig people know that this can be the case with some males - so most of us are prepared to clean the undercarriage of our male piggies from time to time. Most piggies, like these two boys, will not mind that cleaning at all.
The two started to eat veggies after we introduced them to green and red peppers (a good Vitamin C source), romaine and red leaf lettuce and parsley - of course they love carrots but we keep that rationed (too much sugar in them if fed in large quantities).
Well, take a look at the 'pigtures' - aren't they super sweet?
If you love the affection of male piggies, the feeling of a very relaxed stretched out pig in your lap, the purring (motor boating) - these pigs are for you. Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy are waiting for the perfect home!
